Jon Alexander is a British author, speaker, and social change strategist best known for his book Citizens: Why the Key to Fixing Everything Is All of Us. His work explores how the way societies view people shapes institutions and decision-making.

After working in advertising and communications, Alexander began questioning the dominant idea that people are mainly “consumers” who simply choose between services. In Citizens, he argues for a different perspective: seeing people as active citizens who can participate in shaping solutions to shared challenges such as climate change, inequality, and public health.

Alexander is also co-founder of the New Citizenship Project, an organization that works with governments, businesses, and civic groups to encourage participation and collective responsibility. His central message is that lasting social change happens when people are treated not only as customers, but as citizens with the power to act.
